Carla Tamayo, MD

Internal Medicine Physician

Dr. Carla Tamayo is a chemical engineer and Board-Certified physician in Internal Medicine. Dr. Tamayo completed her medical education in the University of Puerto Rico – Medical Sciences Campus and proceeded to complete her Internal Medicine Residency at Stanford University Hospital in Palo Alto, California.

As part of her training, she participated in SHAPE – Stanford Hospitalist Advanced Practice and Education Program focusing in the complexities of acute hospital care. Her engineering background led her to multiple Quality Improvement projects and publications throughout her residency focusing on patient safety, optimization of care plans in transitional settings, and education. In the primary care setting, Dr. Tamayo is interested in obtaining comprehensive patient interviews to provide an inclusive evidence-based care plan tailored to the patient.

Dr. Tamayo returned to Puerto Rico in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two children and all things crafts.
