  • The Surge of Direct Primary Care and Concierge Medicine
    by fiarah.carrau@pravanhealth.com (Fiarah J. Carrau) on September 9, 2022 at 4:23 pm

There are over 10,000 clinics in the US today operating under a new model called DIRECT PRIMARY CARE (DPC). It's called DIRECT because patients usually pay a monthly or yearly fee for better service and easy access to Primary Care Physicians (PCP). DPC aims to cut the red tape health insurance imposes on the industry. The model is gaining traction, making DPC more popular because of its quid-pro-quo idea of providing efficient solutions for physicians and patients.   Personalized care Doctors operating with this model care for a fraction of the patients a regular PCP manages through the health insurance model, allowing them more time to invest in the quality of care and service experience. Meanwhile, patients get faster access to medical services, more time with their physicians, and personalized care.

  • The Importance of Early Detection
by david.melchor@pravanhealth.com (David Melchor) on June 6, 2022 at 2:46 pm

One of the things that makes me feel proud and grateful about Pravan is the number of people we have helped through our preventative primary care approach. When we founded Pravan, we wanted it to focus on prevention since most physicians and clinics practice reactive medicine nowadays. By reactive, I mean that people only go to the doctor when they feel something is wrong, and unfortunately, it could be too late.

  • First a Concierge Medical Clinic in Puerto Rico
by david.melchor@pravanhealth.com (David Melchor) on March 15, 2022 at 4:16 pm

It’s 11pm and you’re losing sleep over what-ifs. You feel fine, but there is that one thing that runs in your family. Or maybe you don’t feel fine. Was it the sushi? Or that bug that took down half the office last week? You start feeling worse and the thought of going to an ER crosses your mind. What should I do? If I go to the hospital, it is going to be a nightmare with several hours of waiting time.  That doesn't sound like a pleasant experience...

  • Challenges in the relocation process for Act 60 residents in Puerto Rico
by Dr. Sayra González Huertas on March 15, 2022 at 4:11 pm

There are currently thousands of people relocating from the mainland to our beautiful island of Puerto Rico. Many of them have become Pravan members, and we have noticed how challenging the relocation process can be. Some people are doing better than others, so we decided to put together this blog in order to give some perspective for those going through this process.Relocating can be one of the most exhilarating decisions you ever make. Few things are more mentally and physically challenging than packing your belongings and moving to a new place. You are leaving the comfort of the familiar to engage in a new environment with its own culture and history. As you prepared for all the tearful farewells, the thrill of this new adventure was always in the background. Even as you bid your old home goodbye, you felt the rush of possibility and new beginnings. However, once the initial excitement of living in a new city wears off, gnawing feelings of doubt, uncertainty, loneliness and all the stress that come with moving can start to creep in. You might get lost trying to find your way to the supermarket or you might have difficulties communicating with an important vendor. You might find yourself really missing your favorite coffee shop and long lunches with friends. You planned every aspect of your move, except for this. Let’s talk about what to expect once you start settling into your new life.

Over the last few years we have seen a growing trend of people moving to Puerto Rico from the mainland looking for warmer weather and lower taxes. A few years ago the Puerto Rico government implemented several tax incentive decrees collectively known as Act 60, to incentive investors, business leaders and successful entrepreneurs to move to the island with their families and generate economic activity. After being in effect for a few years, there are thousands of individuals who are now Puerto Rico residents benefiting from the tax decrees.

It’s no secret that there’s been an influx of people moving to Puerto Rico from the mainland looking for warmer weather and lower taxes. The Puerto Rican government’s implementation of several tax decrees collectively known as Act 60, to incentivize investors, business leaders and successful entrepreneurs to move to the island with their families and generate economic activity, has had a very real impact on our island. With so many people moving here - and with the healthcare system becoming a major concern, there’s been a growing demand for certain needs to be met.
